Just joined up here and am looking forward to learning more about my Road Star. It is the first one I've owned and so far like it better that the previous bikes I've owned.
The way I got this one is a friend told me a renter had a bike in his garage for about 8 years, didn't know what kind, or what kind of shape it was in but to go look at anyhow. When I first saw it I blew it off as it was under a mattress leaning up against the wall and covered in dirt.
Short story, we pulled it to my garage and cleaned it up a little. I asked the owner what he wanted for it and he said if I can get a title for it and get it running I could have it. Got a bonded title and got it running and cleaned up, has a few scratches on the tank but this thing runs very well. It is a 2001 Road Star Silverado with vance & hynes pipes and I think I'm going to like it.

Also looking forward to gaining trouble shooting tips from some of you gurus.

A little about my self, got my first two wheeler in 1953 from sears & roebuck, it was an Allstate motorscooter. If I remember correctly it cost a little over 200.00. Have had several in between then and now and love to ride.
Spent a little time in the Navy. Retired from a world wide corp, and will ride till they have to kick dirt in my face.

Great story about acquiring the bike

There are plenty of folks on this message board with lots of knowledge about the Road Star.

You should be able to get an answer to any technical questions you may have.

The "Tech Articles" tab to the upper left is a great place to start
