$134.88 on eBay - Chaparral Motorsports - free shipping

I have had bad luck with chaparral motorsports and tires. They have sent us tires twice with damaged beads.
I won't buy tires from them ever again.

I go with motorcycle superstore, they are usually within a dollar or two, and always pack their tires for shipping very carefully protecting the bead and they insure them. Tires have always been fresh manufacture due to their high turnover. They have never yet sent us a tire that wasn't manufactured within 12 months of me getting it.

Considering we have bought 4 tires every 5k miles for the last 30k miles (3 years) I would say we have gone though enough tires to know lol (yes, The Stryker is a tire eater, (240 on the rear) plus our roads help)

I am looking forward to my R* not needing tires as often lol

Good information to know!

I've bought my last 3 Commander IIs through a local shop who also gave me a discount on mounting and balancing since I purchased from them. I prefer to do business with a shop where tires are concerned if they are fairly competitive with online stores. I don't mind tearing into an engine or other work, but am not fond of mounting tires myself.

My cousin is the tech at local stealership and gives me a discount on mounting . I usually can get the parts dept to match the price I find online . Just looking for the best deal so I can print it out and take to them .

When shopping online ask about the date code on the tires.
Some ship fresh tires, some ship tires that have been returned to the manufacturer for some reason.
Guess which ones are usually at the best crazy low prices.

About 4 years old in an air conditioned store is about as old a tire I'll trust my life with.

Date codes look like this one which reads 50th week of 2012, so about 2 years old.

+1 on the date code stuff, Good tip Bubba. I bought a used RV and I was really happy because it had 6 brand new tires on it. Visually anyway. The tires were 10 years old, and 5 of those years were sitting on the same spot. Found out about the date code after that.

Every time we went on a trip, we would blow a tire. Them suckers are LOUD!I now have 6 REAL new tires on it, and am a grand poorer.

Yeah, 2 years old is still a good tire but we've already got it on the 1/2 off pile because we DON'T want 10 year old tires going on our customer's motorcycles.

If anyone selling 'new' tires refuses to give a date code or claims they don't have access to that info, I'd be using my back button right about then.

I've had great success ordering my tires from DennisKirk.com‎. Tires are packed nicely and shipped quickly.

We usually buy the tires online, because we live so far away, then take them to our local shop and have them mounted and balanced, and then usually reinstall the wheels ourselves. If I am in a "I want it right now" mood we just ride the bikes down and pay the extra 40$ per wheel to have greg take the wheels off etc. if we R&R the wheels ourselves, then we save 80$ per bike because greg will only charge us 20$ a wheel to swap tires and balance them.

If I can get one of the two shops I prefer to get me the desired tires at a good price, I do that, but usually they have almost a 100$ markup on them out here.

I am just glad my R* won't need shoes as often lol *crosses fingers*

Check this out.

I just bought 2 new Mich commander 2's from the motorcycle super store and guess what, one of the new tires(Front)had a nice 1.5-2" finishing nail in it that went through a plastic button looking thing then into the tire.

Called them up and told them what happened and they didn't believe it until i sent them pic's of it.

That set or tires showed up 2 days post ordering, they emailed me a pickup slip for the bad tire and said they would ship out a replacement tire ASAP.

Well its been 4 days since then and still no replacement tire and the defective tire with nail in hasn't been picked up either.

I tried to attach a couple picks of the nail in tire but RSC site didn't like them without me having to jump though hoops to revise them so no go on the pics.

That is a whole other thread LOL Believe me, I have considered it. I have also considered just moving to someplace with decent roads and year around riding weather *grins*
