WHAT?! Electric bike wins Pike's Peak OVERALL??!! 3 Years, 3 Months ago
An electric motorcycle won the Pike's Peak Challenge …not just in class, but *overall*! Holy crap… This is the first I've heard of this bike... And it set a land speed record at Bonneville of 215.96 MPH! That's pretty damn fast for a production based electric bike…

This is a game changer… Only a matter of time before an electric takes the IoM TT.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the noise and vibrations my R* makes, and given the choice, I still wouldn't buy one; but when it comes to pure performance, there's no denying the *instant* 100% torque of an electric motor.

Here's a full review on Jay Leno's Garage… Now if they can just work out the range issues…

Be a great second bike for quick take off's and passing cagers. The thrill of the handlebars pulling one along would be great fun. As far as going fast, leave that to those with good life insurance policies.

I used to be into RC's. The hobby grade not the toys you buy at Toys R Us. I had all nitro powered and figured I would get an electric to see what it was all about. In every measurable performance way the electric was better. It was faster, quicker, easier to maintain, cleaner, and the neighbors would not complain. It was also boring as hell and took the fun out of the whole experience. Something about a little required tuning, the noise, smoke, and dirt caused by a gas motor is what racing is about. Electric is fine for mass transit, logistics, and golf carts. For performance and racing I want fire.

It's only a matter of time before a production hybrid cycle comes along.
Smoke, noise & fire when you want to get snotty, insane torque & high revs for the occasional straight-line sprint.
I can even see the brakes recharging the batteries like they do in a Prius.

Imagine, 200 MPG @ 200 MPH.

Regenerative braking has been a reality for decades, as well as electrodynamic braking. The reliability, safety, longevity, and cost of the storage cell remains the largest barrier. You can't sell everyone in the world a $50,000.00 "consiencecar" I won't consider paying that for something that burns gas, and has semi-known service life and D.O.C., so they are a LONG damn way from selling me one.

The gas/electric hybrids are coming. Even boats are heading that way. I personally love the idea of having the power, performance and MPGs . I welcome the future. hell right now there are at least a half dozen or more cages that get better MPGs than my bike

A big hidden mystery in the whole electric auto debate are the real cost of the charge (ie the batteries and the cost of the electricity) not to mention the true pollution caused, batteries dont just waste away to nothing you know. Anyway I prefer and will always prefer a fire breathing motor.

Some of my plane's performance are mind blowing!
