The cost of powder coating. 1 Year, 5 Months ago
For those who have had multiple parts powdercoated before. How much would you think a roadie frame, swing arm and most of the front end cost? I plan on a double bake? My main color and then a clear on top (main color has flake and requires a clear)

Under 200 Unless your powder coat choices are a "special color."

Blasting the parts won't be that hard, and there wont be much masking involved.

The guy i would take it too said he does that. He doesnt care if i do it and bring it in or not cause he would do it again anyway.

I guess i need to start getting on it pretty soon. I want to re fresh the engine as well. I want everything looking like new by spring.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear on that part. The Powder coaters will have to do the masking after they blast the parts.

The only thing you have to be careful of is the bearing races in the neck. make sure they understand that area needs to be masked before AND after blasting (unless you are pulling the races before blasting.)

R.W. Little In San Diego. They have great prices and do really good work.

They did an 89 c-1500 rear axle in custom colors (with a clear coat) for $125 just two years ago.

If you are willing to wait 2 weeks. If you put a RUSH on it (3 days) they add $100

GO to places that generally do LARGE items. they tend to be cheaper than the "small custom shops."

Just happen to run into the guy who owns the powdercoat shop I use during lunch today. Asked him what it would cost ball park for what you want...he said probably around $300 ish... Also depends on what special color or how much "special" prep you're wanting to have done (i.e. masking). Might be a little steep...but hey it's SoCal so everything is more expensive here!
