My squeak was so loud coming from my brand new looking / perfect looking belt everyone in a parking lot would turn their heads to see what the heck that racket was when I came riding up.

I cleaned both pullies thoroughly and installed a new Dayco Panther belt 4 or 5 years

Will a 126 tooth belt work on my '01 Star with stock front pulley and 65 tooth rear ?

When I had this issue it was not the belt or belt tension but the rollers up front in the cover. Turning them netted sound. I had a spare, took it apart and added a tad bit of synthetic grease. Never heard a chirp again.
