Riders backrest for OEM seat? 9 Years ago
I talked with a local upholster who has experience with seats, and it looks like I might have them redo my OEM seats, but I was wondering if there is a riders backrest for the OEM seat? I have an 07 Silverado. I did a search in the threads and didn't find anything that helped.

Darn Oldie:

Here is a link to the one I had for use with the OEM seat. You can pick them up on e-bay / Craig's List from time-to-time. I sold mine because it would not work with a Mustang Seat.

I know that some folks have made their own using a piece of bent flat bar that bolts to the same place as the rear seat. You can bolt a OEM sissy bar pad to it. This is certainly a cheaper route, but it will not be as adjustable.

Looked at both of them so far, I didn't know that they would be $300 plus, yikes! And you are happy with yours?

there was a guy making them and selling them on Ebay. "Firehouse Customs" maybe? You might check there.

kuryakyn makes one for much less, ~160 I think. I saw 3 of them on Phat Performance a while back. Phat does very good service, or has with me.
I'm going to try to get one next season too.

I have the Utopia and love it. Folds down for the passenger and is fully adjustable.

i love my cwi backrest, i had one on my honda shadow too.....after i slipped my disc its the only thing that lets me ride anymore..to be honest tho i duno how much it is costing you to reupholster your seats, you may want to just consider new seats that have a backrest incorporated like mustang or ultimate

and fyi, i got my cwi on ebay for about 220, and i have my honda shadow backrest still...if you have welding skills you can retro fit the honda one to fit the roadie with just some new brackets, i was going to do that originally but was feeling lazy

I've got the Kuryakyn. Pro,,, the mounting bar is thick and nicely doubles as a handhold for passenger. It also has a zippered bag on the back side of it for glasses/wallet. Con,,, it is a little too tilted forward in it's most laid back position, so may require a little customization to get it just right (stick it in a large vice and bend a few degrees).
