I-35 sucks ass. Best I can recall, on the stretch between D/FW and San Antonio, some part of it has been under construction since 1978. It's a great(?) place to get slaughtered on a motorcycle. I survived it many times, most of which can be attributed to sheer luck. Especially on my old Panhead, which was too gutless to get out of it's own way.

I was working in Austin for 7 months and commuting home to Dallas for the weekends. About a month in, a family of a co-worker was killed in the mini-van (except for a 14 yr old boy). It was then that I switched to going through Glen Rose and Lampasas.

I too, avoid IH-35 like the PLAGUE!!!
My Stepson, Mugg, lives in Leander which is N.W. Austin. I go through Marble Falls to get to Leander. I AVOID Austin as much as possible, even in a cage. I work in San Antonio, which is getting worse, but the drivers in Austin are just plain BAD! Everyone is in a hurry to get nowhere fast!
