#982440 G_Conway (User) ScrewBird Platinum Boarder Posts: 1121 99 -07 Pie plate question 1 Year, 6 Months ago   I'm putting 07 cast wheels on my 99 R* using 99 rotors and brakes. You don,t need the pie plates. One has a weighted rubber block on it, the other does not. The purpose was to prevent harmonic resonance between the 2 identically sized and spaced rigid brake rotors. With the semi-floating disc design used with the rigid mount calipers from 04 on, harmonic resonance ceases to be an issue. I've had the plates off mine for 55K miles. They are heavy, and they are also un sprung weight, the worst kind. I DO occasionally experience harmonic resonance between the brake discs with light pressure on the brakes, and around 5 mph, but I don't really care. My main concern was NEED. If I need them in this scenario, then I'll put them on. I would prefer to leave them off for aesthetics. IMHO they become the focus of the front wheel when they are there.
