What to pack 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Hey guys,

I'm going to be doing a tour down to Austin a Texas in about a week from Toronto and wanted to know what kind of items I should pack with me In case of unfortunate circumstances like a breakdown.

I have no tool bag for the bike so I'm packing an adjustable wrench, Allen key for the seat, zip ties, tire pressure gauge, rain gear, headlamp, extra ear plugs, and some rags.

What else would you suggest I bring?

Regards,

MH

Sun block. My brother in law was here in Florida last week from Quebec, and he underestimated the sun. He went home with a pretty good sunburn.

Before you set out sit down and identify the wrench/allen key for each and every nut and bolt on the bike except for the axle nuts and pack what you need. Zip tie and bungy cords are good too, and have a means to surf the web for parts. Oh and a back up throttle cable or clutch calbe or at least a repair swivel is good to have.

Without a doubt...these are the two most important items. With these, there is no problem you can't get out of.

Contact CAA, get a policy that covers US. Get a health insurance policy that covers OHIP deductibles/ loss coverage. Us health care will break your bank. Ask for short term. Go over every nut and bolt before you leave. How old is your battery? As for tools, Allen key set, 1/4 drive sockets to check bolts.

Re:What to pack 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I took my first roadstar roadtrip at the beginning of july.

I personally brought a,decent little bag of tools 5-17 mm wrenches, 5-19mm 3/8 drive sockets, I took my entire screwdriver set out of my craftsman kit. Plus every allen key including some 3/8 drive allen bits.

My suggestion definitely bring rain gear and full helmet. I hit rain half way on a 5 hour ride on one curvy ass part of US31. I am a fair weather rider normally. It was interesting. But still fun. I rock a leather jacket as rain gear and am now in the market for some chaps. I never thought I would rick chaps but after that if I can find some brown raw leather ones I am in..

I always have a first aid kit and a pistol on me. ALWAYS!!!

EDIT: I also brought a thrunite scorpion flashlight. Best damn flashlight EVER.. if we were broke down at night we would have been SEEN..

Tire repair kit with co2 cartridges for inflating on side of road. Lots of bike shops carry them. Air gauge and a camera. Enjoy your trip! If your close to Shreveport/Bossier City North West Louisiana along I-20 and need anything give me a holler.
