Carburetor Idling Problem 2 Years ago
I have an 02 1600 stock bike. My bike won't idle well unless I place my finger over the little air jet that's in front of the carb. I even replaced the coaster enricher plunger and cover and still have to cover that jet to get the bike to idle right. What could be causing this?

What little jet in front of the carburetor??

If you are talking about actually inside the carb face, there is a good possibility it had a hyper charger on it in the past and the idle air jet is too big.

It's the air jet on the air breather side of the carb shown here

It's an air bleed jet in the front of the carb, just to the left

I don't know if this carb is sucking air from somewhere that makes me have to cover pilot air jet shown here in the link

Have you had the carb apart lately? The only thing that comes immediately to mind is if the O-ring is missing from the PMS screw. It can draw surplus air from there. What does it do with the air cleaner on? You said the intake, carb, and exhaust are completely stock?

I replaced the pilot jet under the carb with a new O ring and barons thumb turn screw style. I even tried replacing it with a new stock pilot jet with the same results.
Even if I put the air breather on the bike will run then sputter and run good for a bit then sputter again until I cover that little air jet then it runs fine.
