I have 4 sets of axle adapters left and I'm not sure demand is high enough for another run. Informal pole feeling this out.

So, recently started thinking about doing a 21" front wheel mod. Can't afford it right now (not sure if I'll ever be able to justify it the way I really want to ). If I did it, it would be an aftermarket front wheel and I would want to run a single caliper only. In the eBay description, it says made for zero offset wheels with dual disc. I'm sure there is a way to make it work for single disc applications because the picture in the eBay post shows the single caliper setup. So, I know I need a wheel with the 1" bearings, but what else do I need to make it work? 6 piston caliper and the larger (13"?) disc seems to be the way to go. Again, kinda asking cause all I really have is half ass knowledge.

A search here on the clinic is a bit frustrating because there are many threads that discuss this, but none of them seem to have all the information (could just be me ). I'd like to get a set of these to keep in the toolbox so I have them if and when I finally decide to take the plunge.

-Edit-

JD, not trying to hijack your thread, but I figured more knowledge on this subject is needed all in one place. I also figured if I had these questions, so do other people. Good chance I'll buy a set off of ya soon, just want the whole bit of information in one place.

Also, I'm assuming these are just for the front wheel, or am I wrong on that?

DEERKILLER

the adapters will work with single and dual disk as long as the hub is not offset. my wheel is single disk as well as stevies. my front brake was stock sized disk with a yzf750 6pston caliper and it felt good (but i also think i have a air bubble in the system still) a 13" rotor will make your brakes better than the 11.8" but its not going to lose stoping power all together with a single disk either.

jd750ace.

i know these are moving but not at a great speed i feel you will continue to move product if you keep at it but i think your sales will step up if you offer the rear as well. a front only is good enough for bagger guys but the naked bike people would want to have matching rims im sure

Jd750ace's product is top notch! Made the front wheel install a breeze.

I now know why he has been hesitant to do a rear wheel. There are a lot of things at play on the rear, including the brake caliper.

I think it could be done, but it would need to be a kit and it would probably be a bit pricey. I think the kit would be a bit like the following.

Two adapters, that size down the harley 1 inch bearing to the RS axle

Another one of those adapters and possibly a pulley spacer with a bearing in it.

4 spacers with a complete set of shims for each one

Internal wheel spacer for the RS axle that has shims included also.

This would easily be a 300 dollar kit, which would shut most guys down.

na its not that big a deal or expensive low $200's tops.

looney sells the brake stay for a harley wheel for $75 that problem solved
the rear wheel has something like a 1" offset from center in the "swingarm" (remember its wider on the belt side to make room for the belt) so just measure right and jd can just cut them. even if its just a top hat to do the bearing and then straight cut spacers lets just say jd charges $100 for the rear for the extra hassle.

a pulley spacer is like $30

so your at $205 and thats nothing when its all said and done and you look at those boss wheels you just put on

They'll correct me if,....6 1/2 inch hub. Sealed(not conical)bearings for a 1 inch axle. Mid 2000's Harley FL wheel, for dual or single disc should work(depends on which one you want).(KC International sells the 60 spoke sealed rims, with stainless polished spokes, and triple plated hub(?), for around $350, on Ebay)

They are just for the front wheel.

Rotor and caliper, I can't help with.

This is something I'm going to do also. I agree, that there is a bunch of stuff on the site, but finding the right post with answers, is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack.

My machine shop can make anything round you are willing to pay setup fees for. Jason was a huge help in getting the fronts right. As far as the rear, I'd have to determine what the nominal desired wheel is, and what it takes to adapt it. As far as the front setup, it requires a 3/8 or 5/16 spacer on the rotor to put the smaller disc in the right spot. I can research this over the weekend and try to come up with a definitive list of what works and not. Pretty tired this week, but finally got internet and TV at the apartment yesterday and can hit the clinic on something besides my phone! Lol
