Having something to set it up on without wobbling like a jack does or blocking the underside of the bike comes in real handy sometimes. I guess if you seen one on blocks or a stand like that and worked on it up there you would have a lot better understanding of it's usefulness. Now I'm with Ya on the $150. Like I said I made my block stands out of wood and they are sturdy as hell and for the price of a 2x12. In fact I think the one I used was an extra one off a job I did.

Dave, Would you trust your wooden stand with your bike on it by putting casters on it and moving it around, slowly of course.
My problem is when I store the bike in my shed for winter, i Drive it inn, then for winter it is jacked on my motorcycle jack. No problem there so far, but when spring comes around I have to back-up the bike from the shed. When I saw that metal stand, I said I could turn it around in the shed (like the batmobile in the batcave) and drive it out in forward motion. But doing so on the jack in the shed makes me freak out a bit. As the motorcycle wooble a bit on the jack.

My wood stands are 2 individual stands the are not connected to each other. If they were connected to each other and the casters were the correct load rated caster and connected to the stands properly I would trust them. Mine that I use were not ever meant to be used that way though.I only use them to set the bike on to remove the jack from under it so I can work on a bike.

The steel one looks like a high quality pc. I'm sure that the guy selling them has a bit of time into building them along with the cost of material. It is probably a good price for what you get. Especially for a guy that don't want to build his own.

I have bought 3 of those stands. 1 for my house 1 for my shop and 1 for my brother. They are great and extremely stable.
