Switching to Michelin's 4 Years, 11 Months ago
|
|
I just ordered a Commander II for the rear. I know the pressure is different from the Yamaha specs. What should I run for pressure? Two up most of the time. Also, I keep hearing about slippery new tires. How slippery are they? Last time I replaced the rear I put a Bridgestone on it and didn't really notice any slipping. Thanks

Run What it says on the tire for air pressure, you will get the best performance from your tires that way. All new tires have a release agent on them that makes them a little squirrely at first. Just take it easy for the first 50-100 miles and you'll be fine.

I try to keep my rear Michelin between 40 and 42 psi. 42 psi is max cold pressure. I may have just got lucky but that is the first new back tire that didn't feel at all slippery to me.

Go by the tire, not the manual.

I'd still run 40 on that. If the ride seems harsh or too much feedback on the rear, I might drop it back to 38, but I'm 2 sacks of fertilize heavier than you. Bottom line, you don't want too much sidewall flex. Induces more heat in the tire and ages them faster.

Thanks JD! Dealer set the tire up at 36 lbs, I figured was too low, based on what I read here, posts on RSC is why I bought the C2 in the first place! Still I want the ride, and the longevity. Appreciate your input.
