Does the bike run better with duals?

I have Bassani's with no problems at all. I have never heard of a yellowing issue but if it yellows clean it with "Blue Job" to remove any yellowing but if the chrome flakes off you are just screwed.

I'm on my third year with the Freedom 4", no problem with the chrome (but I have the black tips)
I do scrape the black tips while riding two up (stock suspension)
Just love the sound, deep, not to loud.

I got Bassani head pipes with HD stock mufflers. They do hit the curbs from time to time but under the muffler only. To bolt up the RSV bags with Freedom mufflers you will need to raise the bags and brackets. Kai had to do it on his install. Bassanis are lower so no problem. The Freedoms head pipe is offset where the muffler slides on.

I have Freedom performance four inch on my 99 and Bassani three inch on my 01. Like them both. I like the sound of the Freedom four inch and the extra clearance. I like the chrome on the Bassanis and have rarely had them drag. I ride them both in the same type of weather and they are set up the same as far as extras. If it was not for the chrome issues on the Freedoms they would be my choice hands down. I still like the Freedoms better but I'm happy with the Bassanis also. I wish I had been one of the lucky people that got the quality chrome on their Freedom exhaust. Good luck on your choice and hope you get the ones that make you happy. Littlebull

Thanks for the very helpful comparison! How old are your freedoms? Those were the ones I wanted for looks and non-scrape issues, but the number of posts about Freedom's chrome issues are huge.

Thanks for the info and the links. You bring up an interesting question... Why did you go HD muffles rather than the two options from Bassani? and are there any issues installing them on the Bassani head pipes?

I can't speak for Jclevesque but most using HD cans on Bassani pipes do it because you can get HD cans for between free & $50 all day long.
I got a pair from Stevie for the cost of shipping them to me, but never used them.
Some use them because there are about 1000 places making baffles for stock HD cans so sound options are easy.
Do you want mine for the cost of shipping?

No but you might get a little more high RPM horsepower with them at the expense of some low RPM torque.
I don't think anyone gets much usable power out of duals unless they're part of a full-on race engine build.

You definitely get a 'true stereo' sound out of 'true duals'.

Bubbakahuna said it right. $50 is what I paid and since you are installing RSV bags, you can make brackets to fit RSV bags to HD mufflers. The RSV riders do it all the time.
