4mm grizzly valve part #? 10 Months ago
Anybody know the part # for the 4 mm grizzly valve? I cannot find it on here anywhere and unable to locate it on yamahas parts page. Thank you for your help. Also if you could tell me what it is used on from the factory that would be great, I think I have looked at every size and model of Yamaha grizzly from 98 to 08 and haven't found 4mm yet.

I'm pretty sure you're right. HSR42 has a 4mm valve/seat.

When people started going pumpless they started with the Suzuki 2 then 2 1/2 and finally went with the Grizzly 3. All of these fit the Mikuni 40. You can search the forum for going pumpless.

Copied from thread "fuel pump alternatives" Aussie John wrote:
throw the pump in the useless Yamaha parts box, put a new 3.5 or 4 mm needle and seat and forget about pumps forever, there can be a beer or two to sort out going pump less but its worth it . I have seen a few posts mentioning the 4mm. I have the 3 here as per the tech thread but these posts confuse me. I would like to only open carb once.. thanks

Thank you, I already have the 3mm here as per tech article, but was concerned other people keep mentioning 4 mm and confusing me. Bike runs (poorly, but it runs), wife going away for weekend so I have all weekend to be out on bike. So I'm not taking carb apart till after my weekend in case something goes wrong.

Don't let other people confuse you. Also, go back further in your searches. I've been on here for a half dozen years or so, and frequent discussions about "Pumpless". I've only seen an odd reference to anything larger then 3.0, in the last couple of weeks.

What do you mean the bike runs poorly?

Enrichener must be pulled halfway to run always. Pull enrichener to start and leave fully out for 2 hours or so, then I can close it halfway, bike almost stalls when trying to take off only after idling for 3 min or longer, so I just sit at the red lights and rev it occasionally, hasent stalled in the last week. I'm just learning to ride so any time I'm out is a real good time. I suspect an intake leak but waiting for curts manifolds to be available again, no point in spending time finding something I can't fix yet. Also I have never worked on a carb and am a little intimidated.

You have an air leak. I would just buy a manifold and install it if yours is cracked and bad. I would talk to Curt and see if he is still porting them (he may not be). An air leak as bad as what it sound like you have could damage the engine. I would also at least pull the fuel bowl and spray cleaner thru the jets and orifices while I had the carb off the bike.
