Keeping my roadstar 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Well, I have been pondering a new bike for next year. Looked at a few, rode a few. I like my roadstar better. I have decided to keep it and spend some money on cosmetics to make it my own. Internally wired apes came on bike. Installed a batwing already. Ed big touring seat. Bassani true duals and slash cut down mufflers on order. Softail conversion brackets here already. Does anyone know if the new style Harley stretched bags will clear the 3" mufflers? I would prefer the slightly stretched down bags, no stretch out and no stretch back must be the new style bag.

I will also be replacing the intake manifold and rebuilding the carb. Also got a heated jacket liner that plugs into battery tender wire, it's awesome.

I don't know exactly how much power a heated jacket uses but I'm thinking you should have the upgraded 05-up charging system to use it. But thats just me thinking out loud.

I've test ridden Victory bikes and Indians... and after I got off of both from factory test rides, I realized real quick that I still liked my old R* better.

Sure, they had better rides and better brakes and all that, but they felt rather "soul-less". They were TOO good. They didn't shake enough and make enough noise. They were too big, and too heavy for my tastes.

In short, they were TOO much like transportation APPLIANCES, and not enough like a rugged, old school, rumblin' motorcycle should be. But, hey, that's just me... I'll keep my Road Stars; run 'em, service 'em, and repair 'em 'til I can't ride anymore!

You, too?

Yep me too. I felt squished on the bikes I rode. I seem to fit well on my roadstar. Had to remove the backrest tho, felt like it was pushing me forward.

If I hit a big lottery jackpot I would probably go to the nearest BMW dealer and buy a new K1600B. That notwithstanding, I'll keep my Roadstar. Looks, sound, and, most of all, reliability. Hard to find all that in the same bike

I would consider the truck light LED headlight too if you ride at night any... i'm sure we can come up with other stuff to help you spend that saved money on too.

Thank you, my headlight sucks but I don't ride much at night so it is currently not high on my list to replace. Anyone know of filler panels that fit between Harley bags and fender? I'm using the softail conversion brackets.
