Tommy,

I just have to ask... Which means what, exactly?

I really could not care less what the mfgs put in their new vehicles.

Do any of those vehicles have flat tappet cams requiring higher levels of zinc and phosphorous, like our big v-twin motors?

Mobil makes an oil for our bikes, and Amsoil makes an oil for our bikes. Those two, along with about 15 other bike oils were tested in accordance with industry standards in '09, and the results were published for all to read... and refute, if they were falsified.

Amsoil's product came in first, with Mobil 1 bringing up a very respectable second. In all cases, they were bike specific oils, not any auto oil "near equivalent".

I used to use the Mobil 1 15w-50, then, from joining here, I switched to Rotella T-6. After awhile, I did some serious research on the subject... I mean hours of digging on-line, and decided I'd go with the Amsoil product. I buy a case of gallons at a time, and get a pretty decent price.
