Warm weather riding jacket suggestions 9 Years, 1 Month ago
I am looking to get a good jacket for riding next summer. I have a heavy leather jacket from Fox Creek Leather for cold weather. I live in NH and the summer temps usually range from the 70's to the 80's. I have been leaning towards the textile jackets from Tourmaster. Looking for opinions. Thanks!!!

IMHO, you can't go wrong with Tourmaster. Pricey, though....

I can honestly say that when the inner wind/water proof insulated liner is removed, this jacket is like riding with only a t-shirt.

The air moves through it like it's not there, but you've still got hard pads to keep you somewhat protected if you take a spill. I love mine.

I'm watching this thread too, since I'm going to need a new jacket for this summer. Come on everyone, give a critique of your gear.

I posed the same question last year. I got a lot of responses. The jacket that I bought is a Power Trip Mojave. It is a textile that allows the wind to go through it. With the liner out wearing only a T-shirt, if feels exactly the same as if you were wearing just the T-shirt that is under it. With the liner in, it protects from rain, and adds a bit of warmth. It has protective padding in the shoulders, elbows, and back.
Best of all, i got it brand new on E-bay for all of $110.

I bought a Ride Gear textile a couple of years ago, also with a removable liner. The wind goes right through it. Full removable armor, adjustable wrists, waist, etc. Pretty much the same advantages as the others.

I'm in the midwest, and we can go from miserable hot to chilly within a few hours. I like the looks of the Power Trip Meta Sport jacket. Fire ResQ, how did you find their sizing? I wear a 42 long, and I'd hate to mail order a jacket and look like PeeWee Herman when I put my arms in the sleeves.

I have the TourMaster Dreft without the liner, still gets a little warm when your going slow around the city, but out on the Hiway it's pretty nice and still provides you with protection.

My girlfriend also has the Tourmaster, but she has the removeable liner and she really likes it when we get up early in the morning and it's still cool out, later she can remove it and get full flow air.

I bought a Cortech GX-Air and love it. It's synthetic mesh with full-grain leather elbows/forearms , shoulders and back. Armor in the forearms, shoulders and a nice removable back pad. Breaths great, feels like riding in a T. The other nice thing is that it comes with a zip-out weatherproof liner that makes it a 3 season jacket. It's good from 45 to over 100 degrees. Cortech is a daughter brand to Tourmaster so you know it's top quality. It is a bit pricey, but I'll always pay a little more for safety equipment if the benefits are there. Love this jacket.

I got a silver one to help with heat reflection, but it comes in black, red, blue and silver as well.

I have an Olympia AirGlide mesh jacket that I used last summer. It has a zip out waterproof liner, and with the liner out, it's like wearing nothing at all. Armor in the back, shoulders and elbows. Reflective piping at all the seams. Did I mention that its high visability yellow? You can get it in high visiablity orange too. Available in short or 3/4 length.
