Just a thought - but when you clipped the kickstand switch you connected the wires on the bike side not the switch side right?

yes it is clipped on the bike side of the connector. Ive got a new problem now though, after I was trying to eliminate the clutch switch by jumping it with a direct 12v source, the bike wont start anymore. If I jump the starter solenoid by the fuses I can get it to, but the start button does nothing, all the light and everything else still works though. Whats going on with that?

Check the Main fuse It is on the starter relay under the little plastic cover

Yup, checked the main fuse. I pulled the starter button assembly apart this morning and traced the blue/white wire back to what I call the starter relay under the right side cover. When I jump the plug there with the hot wire, I can use the button to start the bike, so that must be bad. What exactly is that part called? Could it of been causing the issues all along?

for the clutch sw. just wire the 2 wires together, it needs to complete a circuit loop

Got it fixed. It was the relay under the right side cover, the larger 11 prong one. Apparently it controls all the safety switches, ignition and fuel pump so I replaced that and its all good now. Thanks for the help guys
