flared batwing windshield 4 Years ago
i needed a new windshield because mine got a crack in it. i had a plain 6" plexy windshield but it made buffeting pretty bad on my sunglasses on the freeway so i went a taller and flared acrylic. the acrylic is stronger than plexyglass right? and does the flare really cut the wind better?

this is what i got. almost looks like a klockworks clone

I'm not sure what the difference between acrylic and plexiglass is but the best material is polycarbonate.

My understanding is that acrylic and polycarbonate are generic names. Plexiglass, Tuffak, Hyzod, etc are brand names. Acrylic is harder, doesn't scratch as easily, but fractures easier and has a sharp edge if it does. Poly is tougher but scratches easier. Then there is an impact modified acrylic. DK who uses that in cycle windshields. I use poly at work because it is more durable for my application.

FastAire is what I use in mine. The 'flared' one is a little bit pricey, but comes with a lifetime warranty against breakage. I have the tallest one and don't like it for visibility, but it cuts the wind down significantly compared to a regular 6" shield. I plan on getting the shorter flared one this year sometime
