Cobra, when you had the valve covers off and you hit the starter did you notice the oil pump up onto the top of the head ?

Sorry it took so long to respond. Yes there is oil flowing to the top of the heads while cranking. I finally bought a lift table to be able to tear into this thing properly. I think the next step will be removing the exhaust and Intake again, and doing a leak down test on the cylinders.

Just finished the leak down test. Had 5% on the front cylinder and around 1% on the rear cylinder. Looks like my leak is on the front cylinder exhaust valve as there was air leaking out the exhaust pipe. 5% doesn't seem like enough to worry about to me. Could this be causing the miss and massive vibration issues that I am having?

I got mine fixed finally by pulling the heads and getting the heads cleaned up and the v alive seats touched up. I also installed warrior springs from orient express and installing the 10.5 1. pistons. It runs great and helped with carb tuning. I have had a problem with this bike since I bought it in 2002 brand new. It now runs better than new. Everyone said it was not the heads but it was.......just a thought.

This is the direction I am headed now. I tore it down to check the cams and lifters, all look perfect. So next up I guess is pull the heads

Removed the heads, cylinders and pistons. All look good except for a small vertical line on the front cylinder. I did not find very much carbon but that is too be expected from the massive amounts of sea-foam treatment I gave it to try and clear it up. Wish I found something to confirm the issue. Has anyone had an issue with the later Dyna 3000 ignitions causing a problem? Coil/wire issues on a 2006? I am at a loss here and hate to throw parts at it. Thank you all for your help in advance

That would be a blast! Going to pull the valves and check the seats and guides tomorrow. Hope I can find what the heck is causing this.

Hello all. I haven't been on the Clinic for a while due to many reasons but finally have all my parts together for this top end rebuild. My question is for the rebuilders, what break in oil if any are you using on a fresh topend? Thank you in advance.
