Main Jet Different I.D. sizes from diff makers 2 Years, 4 Months ago
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the inside diameters on main jets manufactured by different companies are not even close?

I'll keep this short.. I have many different brands of main jets and while doing plug chops on 2-strokes I found this out. They are not even close to each other. What I am trying to say to everyone is be careful if you are fine tuning an engine and have different brands of jets. The main jets I am mostly referring to are Mikuni Vs any no name or a or ab brand jets.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes in fact there is a jet comparison chart that should be somewhere in the tech section. It show comparison sizes between Mikuni and Dynojet. When going by the numbers on the side of the jets there is a big difference.

Do you mean, like there could even be a comparison chart on the Tech Articles page, showing the difference between DJ mains, and Mikuni's? It's possible.

Mikuni main jets number is the flow rate, NOT the size of the hole.
Other jets numbers ARE the size of the hole in the jet.

Thank you. I just had a shop owner that told me he would be surprised if there is a difference.

Beyond the differences mentioned, you can also end up with some one off jets, that are stamped with a size only, that are still sized the same as Mikuni's. Mikuni stamps theirs with a trade mark square in a square, and an "R". The rest(including DJ's), won't have that. It can be a nuisance trying to sort out what is what, if you didn't do the work yourself, or don't know who did, and what they used.

If you look close the cone depth and angle are also different in them too. Thread sizes, head style , round vs hex, any number of things you don't see. Look at the bottom where they screw in too.
