Things I check while the wheel is off are: brake pads, rotor, wheel bearings, drive belt and front pulley.

Clean the belt and pulleys with soapy water and let air dry. Grease all bearings and axle, polish the wheel, check rear wheel alignment by measuring from center of axle to swing arm center pivot on both sides (don't rely on the adjuster marks), clean brake caliper and mount, only tighten the caliper bolt to the swingarm with the brake applied, check fender and sub frame for cracks, check primary pulley nut for tightness and add more slutty chrome.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Sorry for being ignorant, but I couldn't find article on here about greasing wheel bearings. I have fairly new to riding and motorcycle upkeep. could someone point me in the right direction to an article for my 2002 please?

Thank you,

Steve

Check spokes if you have spoke wheels.

On the 1600's all of the wheel bearings are sealed except for one. On the outside of the pulley hub there is an open needle bearing. Pack as much grease as you can behind the wheel spacer seal. On mine I also pull the spacer that rides on the bearing as far out as it'll go and pack grease into the opening inside then put the axle in so when I push the spacer back in as much grease as possible is forced in toward the bearing. This bearing is also used on the 1700's.

I don't think most dealerships even know about this bearing.

Installing my rear after sealing my spokes. Question: Should I put the rubber cush wedges into the rear pulley hub dry or put some silicone spray, grease, graphite, etc on them?

I always spray silicone spray on them. It makes things slip together easier and conditions the rubber.
