Put mine in last summer & noticed an immediate improvement. Smoother idle & better performance. Didn't gap 'em. Put 'em in right out of the box. The Iridium's & Mobil 1 V-Twin 20-50 are the 2 best things I've done to this bike.

Been running the Mobil 1 V-Twin for a while. I put the irridium plugs in at the same time that I re-jetted my carb, so I can't completely attribute the improvement of my bike's performance to one thing or the other, but with all these, she runs like a champ. Just under 17,000 miles now.

I changed my plugs recently, and just used the plain ngk plugs... I have put the iridium plugs in my venture 2 years ago... the reason is for longevity.. hard to get to on the bike... I never noticed any difference in performance or fuel mileage with the more expensive plugs... to get a better spark, a change in wires and coils, etc etc would be required....

yes, 4. and don't forget to use anti-seize on the threads, and remove plugs on a cold engine as well

A mech-a-neck friend of mine said to never use anti seize on plugs because it insulates the plugs from the head and could cause spark jump. What's the deal?

i just called my local yamaha dealer to see if they had any spark plug wires for 2006 r*. he told me they would have to order them at $157 a piece bcuz they come with the coil on them. someone tell me this isn't true. i can just buy the wires and that's it? if any suggestions on wires and websites to get them from, i would appreciate it. $600 for spark plug wires i can't see doing.
