I bought the 3-pc Midrider from Ultimate. The stock seats are shinier than the Ults, and the Ults have stitching on the surfaces. I did not buy the passenger backrest pad until after I got my original order. Once I seen the differences, I ordered up the passenger backrest pad. But I'm an engineer and tend to be very picky about details like this.... Drives my wife crazy!!

I have the ultimate with backrest , I,m only 5'7" and the backrest makes me feel pushed to far forward so I hardly use it,on the stock seat I always sit as far back as possible with the Ultimate not much room for moving around,The first week I got it I did about 1000 mi in 3 days by the time I got home the inside of my thighs where chaffed from the location of the stitching ...My wife loves the passenger seat ( now she wants go all the time )
They do make a retrofit for the backrest to move back alittle I'll give it a try and if i keep legs open a bit wider on the hiway pegs all is good...I guess the best is the minute you sit in it you feel total control of bike...
sorry no pics yet

Bronson I also felt the backrest pushed me a little too forward, so I ordered the offset (wish I'd ordered with the seats) and it did make a difference for me.

PapaTom - Did you have any interference problems with the offset post and the passenger seat on your Mustang? The MustangSeats web site let me to believe that it only worked with seats with the reinforce concave front. I had the Mustant seat with the riders backrest on my VStar and we loved it until I used the backrest. I had to manufacture my own offset post out of 1" x 1/4" steel strap. I was going to order a new seat for my RoadStar last night but I wanted to get your feedback on this first.
My bike is in the shop for two weeks. Yamaha authorized them to tear it down and swap parts to resolve the excessive engine noise issue. They say they've had good results doing this in the past so I'm encouraged. Only problem is, "What am I going to do without my bike for the next two weeks?".

I actually have the Ultimate, not the Mustang, L2R. The offset doesn't seem to interfere with my better half. The offset is only about an inch or so, so it doesn't lean that far back. Just enough to make a nice difference. What shop did you take it to? The one down State in Provo (I've forgotten the name they changed to)?

I took it to South Valley Motorsports just South of 114th South State in SLC. I was impressed with the service managers attitude about the Roadstar and engine noise. He says they've had good results addressing these issues in the past. BTW - I ride with a group out of Pleasant Grove and one of the founders keeps a web site on our exploits. Check us out at bartriders.com.
