A Harley I'd love to own.... 9 Years, 5 Months ago
I know this is a Road Star place, but when you come across something like this you just have to share.

My home town has a place called Panhead City. Like the name implies they restore and sell HD bikes. Well, they have quite a few panheads, but they also had this one that caught my eye. I figured I'd share with the group.

I initially visited their shop because they have a mechanical horse that sat out front of a store. I rode it as a child and want to get a picture of my little one ridding him too. The bikes they had there were a bonus.

High-res. images here.
See all the images by clicking here.

Maybe it was because they didn't know I rode a metric, but every guy there was super friendly and helpful. They even invited us back into the shop area where they take the rusty, bird nest infested barn bikes they find and turn 'em into two wheeled objects of desire of old men like me.

I can't say enough good things about the place or the staff. So, if I find an extra pile of money around sometime I may just travel back and pick up another bike of the HD brand. It will be 50 years old and I will need some shop rags to put under it, but sometimes history is worth a few oil drips.

Wow a Panhead, Knucklehead, and an Indian.
Al three are sweet and would be more then welcome in my garage.
I've said many times I'd never own a HD, but the Knucklehead is the exception. I've always wanted an old Knuck.

Now I think I could own one of those, its almost like owning a piece of Americana with out really being in the Harley club.
That would be really cool...

I live down the road from panhead city they are a great bunch of people. They always treat me right when i stop by there.I have noticed some places could care less if it says HD on your bike these are people like that. If you get the owners wife off to the side she will sing the praises of her metric she used to ride. Also be careful on the horse it bucked the owners wife off and broke her arm or wrist lol

Doc, actually that's not me, it's my cousin. When he heard I was taking my son he had his kids pile in the car and tag along. He used to ride that same horse as a child so he had the same feelings about Sandy as I did.

The owner did warn us that Sandy bucks now and then and that his wife broke her arm. Seems she runs the bar up at 53 & 140 called "Obies"(??). I didn't get a chance to pay that place a visit since I was in town to see family. I for sure will next time.

Nice pics Mark. I loved all the old bikes. I'm not familiar with Harleys but the red one in your pics, I know where one is that hasnt been restored but still looks that good sitting in a garage Got an old photo of grandmas sister and her husband on it in the full leather riding gear lol. Way back when they were young. At least it looks like the same bike, I could be wrong. Anyways, great pics thanks for taking the time to share with us. Nick

My first Harley (second bike) was a '39 Knuckle Head. Fair lowend torque and nothing on the top end. My second Harley was a flat head 80 that I kept trying to destroy via a supercharger. It looked a bit like this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSVG9Wtnamc

My last, and probably final, Harley was a Pan Head of dubious year and origin. Of all the Harleys I only have one deteriorated picture.
