I used the single which is brighter than the stock high beam also I plan on installing passing lamps later down the road. The hi/lo HID bulbs require extra wiring making the install a little less user friendly. @Dysan911 your passing lamps should be Be H3 bulbs which I stock all of the time(that's what I use in offroad apps). If interested I can sell you the conversion kits on all 3 lights for $135 with free shipping.

I do agree that the HID light is brighter and whiter than with the stock or even an upgraded SilverStar bulb that I installed. However the one downside I see to the conversion is that you can not install a modulator on it.

Having a modulator installed has saved my fat bacon more times than I can count. I don't ride all that much at night so having the extra reach of the HID lighting isn't a huge selling point. Besides the SilverStar bulb lights things up just fine for the sort of riding I do at night.

I suppose if I wanted to install a wig-wag unit between my amber passing lights that might help with the visibility but I figure if something ain't broke why tinker?

Not being able to use a modulator is a deal breaker for me on the HID conversion. But I do appreciate the original post with the how to for those that are comfortable with it.

That's why I never considered HID on my bike. In my opinion the modulator offers me more safety than an HID system

I installed the Kurt off-road bulbs in my headlight and passing lamps. In the headlong I have a 90/100 and stock was 55/65 I think. A the stock passing lamps were 35 watts and I put in 55 watt bulbs in them. I have no problems with running these all at once. I have more than enough power to run them and charge the battery. And it was only $7 forthwith headlight & $6 each for the passing lamps. So I have a total of $19 in the whole job... and it is a really clear light. No amber tint at all.

HID's are brighter no question. I had nuthing but bad luck with them. I had one installed by the dealer, it lasted about six months before the ballast broke. So, went back to stock becuase to replace the ballast (or what ever it's called) was more expensive than the whole light kit. The I bought one off-Ebay for my Roadie. Easy install, that worked about two minutes before it went bad! I'm not against them, but just has bad luck with them.

I have only ever had one ballast go bad on me but all of my HID kits are lifetime guarantee on the bulbs and ballast.

I was interested in doing the same one day but my passing lamps would look really brownish compared to the headlights if I do. I don't know of any way to get the passing lamps to match. Any ideas?http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-35W-55W-Single-Motorcycle-HID-Kit
