I have on 09 that has aftermarket pipes and spent the money on a PC-V when I put them on. It now sits on a shelf in my garage collecting dust. While it may work under the conditions of the map loaded on it during acceleration the problems with it show up when cruising at a steady speed. Once you get to say highway speed, you get a surging effect which is very annoying, it feels like you are slightly twisting the throttle open and closed. This is because the O2 sensors are taken out of the equation and their main duty as I understand it is to control fuel mixture at constant speeds. So without upgrading to wideband O2 sensors the PC-V basically guesses how much fuel is needed when maintaining a constant speed. I have had no ill effects running aftermarket pipes without it and I don't recall hearing of anyone here that has either.

I performed a "stage 2" on my '08 efi several years ago. I also added a "Max-Air" intake with no changes to the stock fuel injection system. Old blue runs great and a road trip last year to the UP resulted in an average of 48 m.p.g. I have seen where a lot of owners change their computers and have good results, but my personal experience is that it probably isn't absolutely necessary. Like picking out engine oil, it may be up to the individual as much as anything else.

By the way, I love the look of my Max-Air but does anyone else out there think they sound like they are going to suck paint off the car next to you at a stop light?? Once you open the throttle it quiets down a lot, but when it's idling it is very noisey!! (Kind of sounds tough though...)

Good luck.

My dad had one on his, used to tell him he had to keep small children away from that side of the bike while at idle so they wouldn't get sucked in.

Good to know that some of you did the mods and kept the stock system with good results. I know what my next project will be.

Did you have to put on a fuel programmer with the new pipes? If not how did the pipes affect the performance?
