Officially back in the saddle 2 Months ago
Well it is official. 6 months after my wreck I completed a 220 mile day on 2 wheels.

May 31st 2017 I went down on the freeway between Fortuna and Eureka Ca, due to a high speed front end wobble, that turned into a tank slapper. The mechanic that examined my Roadstar before the insurance company totaled her and had her hauled away, said he found a broken weld on the frame. He was never given the time to determine if it was the cause or result of the accident.

As a few here are familiar with the story, I will just say that 8 broken ribs, a dead kidney, shattered right wrist, broken fingers on the left hand, scrapes, bruises, internal bleeding and a black eye could not keep me from riding once again.

Things still hurt, the ribs are having issues with the metal plates, the wrist and hands still object to being made to work, but honestly it hurts less to ride our roads up here on the bike, then it does to sit in the suburban.

Toby drove us 2-up on my deluxe to Eureka, where we picked his bike up from my son's house, and I piloted myself all the way home. I had to stop a couple times and rest the throttle hand, I had to do a lot of mental pep-talk to keep going at times, and I had to fight some major anxiety, and admonish toby to try to remember that right now, blipping his throttle when his bike is right next to me and I am just pulling into traffic is definitely NOT a good idea...
I need more seat time to get comfortable again behind the controls. I feel like my 'training' has been reset all the way back to newbie. I do at least remember how to operate the bike, but the smooth coordination for shifting is gone. Balance is ok so far, but this new bike isn't my roadstar and boy do I know it. It's a good bike, and it will be much easier to handle once I get used to it, but she doesn't have the bottom my sapphire did.
She isn't as forgiving of lapses in coordination during shifting, the gearing is different and she just isn't my roadstar. *sigh*
Anyway, on the up side, it did feel good to be in the wind again, on my own bike with the open road ahead so I am holding on to that, and looking forward to this coming warm season.

So I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the M&G this year and we plan on starting a couple days early and heading to crater lake afterwards and basically spending a week or 2 just out and about like we used to =)

I hope everyone has a good Christmas and New Year, and I pray you all receive blessings in the months to come. Shiny side up people!

Welcome back! Looking forward to seeing you two in July. The coordination comes back pretty quickly, just give yourself some extra room for a bit. The twisty roads seam to help the best.

Nice report to receive. It will take a little time to shake some of those nerves but it sounds like things are in the right direction. Here's to many miles of happy riding in your future.

Thank you all for the well wishes and Mikey and Shores, I am SO looking forward to july! I should be back in the swing of things by then, I hope to be out putting around when ever conditions allow.
This cold icy weather is for the birds tho ... they can have it too *grumble*

The new puppy doesn't care tho lol he came barrelling across the yard from Mary's kennel and slid across the porch and knocked Cinder into the large dog crate we keep by the door. He is such a clown.
He got a big kick out of the snow yesterday.
