Roadking bags 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I just bought some Roadking hard leather bags from a guy on CL. I think I got a pretty good deal for $75 (feel free to tell me if I didn't) Here's a pic of them. What is the best way to mount them. I looked in the archives and found a couple of good ideas for making some brackets.

You got a hell of a deal. Those are very well made. I would think the HD hard bag brackets for the Roadie would work.

Softail brackets are the best way to mount. They just need a minor mod to the lower part of the mount. Someone had a post on here about it. If your creative you can figure it out yourself though.

You stole those for $75...they usually go for around $200-250 on the low end on ebay, and they're usually in pretty rough shape. Good ones are usually in the $350 range. And DChopper brackets work well, in fact they've got a few pics of those bags mounted using their brackets on their website.

this was my setup prior to switching to hard bags. These are mounted using the Dchopper brackets. You got a hell of a deal for sure!!!

Dchopper brackets are the only way to go IMHO. Awesome deal. I thought about buying those same ones.

You can go with the cheapo softail brackets or you can go with the Dchopper Customs brackets that are solid and have filler panels. Heck of a steal on the bags!

$75?!?!
I wouldn't have paid more than $72 for them, you got screwed.

I keed I keed. Great score.

Dchopper or Softtail brackets.
I ran softtail deluxe bags for about a year on mine, bolted right up with no brackets at all because the deluxe bags have bosses that work like spacers & the bolt holes are exactly the same. They fit right into the eyebrows or sissybar bracket. I couldn't load them heavy with no bottom brackets but for some spare gear they worked fine.

I checked out the Dchopper website and they said if the exhaust is above the axle they're brackets won't work and my 3 in. Hard krome pipes are above the axle
