When you stop breaking into a cold sweat whenever you think about the carb, we can work on the cough

I'm sorry I sent you on a wild goose chase regarding the Ignitor. When the bike would run and then wouldn't, I was stymied. I wondered if it(the Ignitor) was going bad, and then had gone bad. I couldn't think of any other reason, that it'd run great, and then just quit.

Just curious, was the stuff you were flushing out with the carb cleaner, grit, or was is paint dust that was softened(liquified), in the fuel, and then would harden as it was exposed to the air, at the nozzle outlet on the Accel pump?

I am so confident now working with the carb that in a short week I went from complete novice to fully competent. No goose chase at all - education!!!!

I'm not sure about the actual "stuff" that's clogging it. I'm simply drawing conclusions. When I'm flushing it out, I really don't have a chance to see it. It is vey small I'm guessing. But each time I do flush it the jet goes from plugged or sporadic spray to full blown nozzle when cleared.

Huge mouths full of truth there. Those two guys go above and beyond, and I can attest to it. If not for them, I'd still be looking at the carb and not dare to touch it.

I've seen what happens to Styrofoam, when it gets liquified in gas, and then goes back to a solid when the gas evaporates. I didn't know if whatever was in the tank(the acrylic and or solids in the paint???), might have had the same or a similar behavior. The hole in the accelerator nozzle, would be a prime candidate, for something that was just waiting for the opportunity when mixed with air, because your not always spitting gas out of there, and it might have built up around it, until it chocked it off. The spray Carb Cleaner is a lot hotter then gas, and would break it down better.

..just thinking out loud.

Sometimes too, it could be varnish etc., that had accumulated on the inside surfaces of the tank, and then had a chance to dry completely when you drained it to paint it, and then flake off. Seafoam on a regular basis, will put a stop to the latter.

The problem was actually too simple. Crap in the tank plugging the carb was probably never even considered before the M&G. On the Kentucky trip, the filter itself was probably getting plugged and after changing to pumpless with no filter, all that gunk was going straight into the carb and plugging jets. Troubleshooting over the net isn't near as effective as being able to see and put your hands on something. It was a learning experience anyway. Glad you have everything running good again.
