+2 on the belt tension. Also check the front drive pulley nut.

I hate belt tension, had to drive all the way back home and get the truck to go to work

hey fellow roadstar riders glad to meet so many none harley people .I bought a roadstar new in 01 best bike ive owned mileage is at 235 kms that aprox 130 miles

if it's anything like mine it sounds there's all kinds of stuff flying around under the pulley cover
it's just the plastic rollers rattling... I'm ok with it except I'm afraid the rollers will grenade and do something else

Mine was doing the same thing. Drove me nuts. It stopped after I changed tires and tightened the belt.

Thanks everyone for all the info. When riding home I got caught in a little rain and the squeaking stopped. Guessing because the belt got wet. It started back up again when it dried out. Any links to a "how to guide" to properly adjust a drive belt on a road star? This is my first belt driven motorcycle and am kinda a newbie. Any specialty tools I will need?

Thanks for everyone's replies, very happy with the bike so far. Planning a few thousand mile trip in a few weeks so I want to make sure everything is in tip top shape.

That worked perfectly! Belt was a little loose, after tightening it and going for a test run no more sound!! Thanks!
