Vance & Hines Shortshots 7 Years, 8 Months ago
There are a few Vance & Hines staggered shortshots on Ebay for a decent price. Does anybody have these on their bikes? What do you think of the pipes? I also notice there is a technical article about the V&H longshots being too loud and a fix of a homemade baffle. If the longshots with the baffles in are too loud, would the short shots be worst? I can find only 1 sample of the sound of shortshots on youtube. I actually don't mind loud pipes, but not to the point of being obnoxious. Anything shared will be appreciated.

That's what I have short shots, I like them myself. They are not real loud, but they do let people know you are there. The only thing I don't like about them is you get soot around the belt adjuster, but it's not a big deal.

I am running V&H Longshots with the slash cut ends. Love the sound not too obnoxiously loud but loud enough to let people know you are there!!!

I also.
I think it's easy to control the loudness with them.
I've gotten compliments from people on how quiet my bike is, and I've set off car alarms with them.

I have the longshots with Thunder Monster lolipop style "baffles". Loud as hell when you get on it but not to bad if you are easy on the throttle.

TVoso, the bike was listed as Metallic Bronze when I bought it. Others tell me it is a Harley Orange. I like the way it changes color as the day goes on.

Thanks for the input Guys. I'm sold. I'll get my short shots, then save for the re-jet job later. Can't beat the price on eBay. Right now I have the cut out stock mufflers, but I rather have the after market pipes.

Have short shots on my ride. Nice and loud if you hammer on it but you can ride quiet through neighborhoods (if you want to)

I run short shots, I have found them to be perfect noise-wise, I dont think that you will regret your purchase. When you give it a bit of throttle while under load, you will be rewarded with a deep hearty rumbling that lets everyone around you know you are coming, but when you sit on 110k/hr ( not sure what that is in miles per hour for you guys in the states ) then the noise levels out to a pleasant thrumming that is not too hard on the ears or will give you a headache on those longer rides but still is easy enough for those in cars around you to know there is a bike around. I only wear a cannon ball helmet to ride and ive run loud pipes before getting rid of them as it was too loud for long rides and let me with thumping headaches, the option being of course to wear ear plugs, but i think that defeats the purpose of listening to the heart of your R* pumping away down the highway .

I have the short shots and love them. I can keep my right hand out of it and keep the neighbors happy, but will rumble when I get on it. I bought mine on ebay too and dont think I'd trade them----unless someone was giving away Rineharts...
