Pingel petcock 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Just a heads up. I installed the Pingel petcock. Not sure if anyone encountered this but The tank needed to be modified slightly to get it to fit. The base plate bolted on but the valve would not fit into the tank. Large hole, had to be adjusted with a Dremel.

Yes it was the correct part according to the Pingel web site.

Here is what I did.

Some risk of sparks so I drained and flushed tank with water after the gas dried out. Then I used compressed air to keep a high flow of air coming out of the hole I was grinding on. Air was injected in through one of the petcock bolt holes. This kept filings out of the tank. Then I flushed it with water again several times. Then rinsed twice with methyl hydrate to dry out the water.

I used a rat tailed file with course teeth and only filed in a downward direction. Did both my bikes that way.

You can call pingel and they have another petcock that does not need filing on tank. It just does not come in chrome. I had the part number at one time but cannot find it.

a strong magnet up against what you are drilling or filing works wonders for snagging up the tailing as they come off. Put a thin plastic bag over your magnet first. When you are done you can roll the plastic bag off the magnet and all of your shavings will be in the bag and the magnet is clean. Otherwise cleaning sharp shavings off a strong magnet can be a painful bloody experience.
