Change the plugs and take a vacuum reading. If it is happening with two carbs I am going to be ther is a vacuum leak the lack of carb signal has lead to increased fuel getting to the cylinder and fouled the plugs, when you put t under load ther is no transition for idle to full open due to the vacuum leak and the plugs are week cause they are very wet.

Wardens on his way to the store, for some carb cleaner, or ether, to check for a leak at the manifold to head flanges, we'll see what happens.

I told him to leave the air cleaner off, and spray around the flanges, so he could wiggle the carb and see if it opens a leak there somewhere.

For giggles, I hooked the fuel pump back up just to rule that out. Same issues. No difference. I'm thinking manifold air leak too. ? Heading to get some carb cleaner.

Manifold looks good, but ?

Just to throw out some suggestions here, are you guys sure its not a spark issue? Or maybe got some bad gas last tank full? Just thinking here, but if ya tried two different carbs, I might start to peek elsewhere. Did the tps ever come off either carb? Could be misreading and shifting the spark curve to soon/late.

Is this a out of the blue thing? Is the ais gone? Check the plumbing or the cap on the manifold. Very well could be a air leak but even the tone of the motors idle would change (faster and kinda raspy)

A vacuum gauge would tell you a lot, Probably going to need new plugs either way.

I regret that I think I'm beat. This one had me stumped for sure. I regret the timing, as my trusty ride (never failed me in 5 years) will not get me to Green Bay tomorrow.

On a positive, my truck loaded with coolers, awning, chairs, and a party will make the two hour DRIVE.

Gotta make the most!

Thanks to everyone's input. Especially SKWEARpeg who has been at the ready and made me fully competent in carb mechanics. I've learned a hell of a lot in a few short days!!! You are a true friend!!!! Thank you.

Sorry it didn't get sorted for you Jim. It certainly sounds like it's leaning out on you from the description. You will not miss the party though. Gonna be a lot of disappointed folks that wanted to eyeball that paint job.

Sorry it didn't get fixed. Look at it like this maybe it is the only way that something won't happen to you. Fate has a way of directing things that way with help from above.
