I wear a Speedo when I ride. If anyone cares I can get pictures. That should cool the guys down Scoots.
I went pumpless and will never go back. It's a pretty simple Mod. I think you'll be happy with the results. Not to mention it really cleaned up the look.
And if you need help, you have some really good Carb guys on here that will help you every step of the way if you decided to.

I THINK I figured out why yamaha used a pump on the RS's:
2 big hot jugs with a small carb in between, needed to not bump into the riders right knee, and they did not want that carb to get HOT and boil the gas,so it had to keep away from the jugs, so they had to use a tiny float bowl, but to keep the bowl full they needed to use a fuel pump.
AND CARB PUKE IS A MISNOMER. IT SHOULD BE FUEL PUMP PUKE? the needle and seat has constantly fight that pump pressure, and eventually fails.
ONE more time guys.
1. grizzly needle and seat with stock carb, remove the fuel pump and I dont need to muck up the petcock?
ps. i changed out the needle only today and the oring behind the seat with a china freight oring, and it is smelling again.

Every needle and seat I've purchased, came as a set. The angle of the bevel, where the needle and seat make contact, has to match. If I had to guess, I'd say you may have made it worse, not better. Buy a new needle and seat, as a complete set, and it'll have a new oring already on the seat.
You don't need a larger float bowl, when the plan calls for using a fuel pump. The smaller bowl on the 40cv, works fine as it was designed, with the pump.

yes, a nitrile(china freight) oring, but i did bring up the float level to 4-5 mm above the seam of carb bowl, i had it set to the pre-04 level, thinkin about going back down? i did notice a bunch of oilly mess all over the chrome behind and below the carb, had to wipe off, im gonna check air filter, make sure it aint fubarred with oil or some ships. gonna check fuel line for leaks and or replace, i have been using no ethanol. and needle and seat as a set, dude, the base is brass, clean it well, i got the identical mikuni needle. this aint rocket science, but im going to go pumpless im afraid, i have noticed gas smelling oil on this ride. bye bye
OK UPDATE, it appears it is leaking from where the maxair knurled needle goes into carb, and is drolling down side. if i remember there is an oring in there? if the float is set too high, will gas come out the PMS needle?
