Stratoliner help 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Going to look and ride an 06 Strat Saturday morning. Guy is asking $5600. It has 6200 miles and has been kept in his garage has OME windshield and hard bags with the locking system. Strat guys give an opinion. Rode an 07 today with 35,000 miles that was really well kept, the guy had a folder of every receipt on every service. Was asking $5500. It had OME windshield and hard bags too.

I picked up an '06 with 61k miles on it last November. The thing rode magnificently!

It wasn't my style of a ride, so I sold it, but if they're half as tough as an R*, and they most certainly are, you're not likely to go too far wrong with either one, if that's your style of bike!

I know they say that some '06's had an issue with third gear... don't know how true that is, and I don't know if the same issue would apply to an '07, but that's something you might want to track down.

You're in North Florida & a forum member (renpo) in Charlotte NC 28213 is selling a 2007 Stratoliner with only 16k on it for $4800.
That might be worth a trip.
It's in the Classifieds right here ---->> http://roadstarclinic.com/component/option,com_marketplace/page,show_ad/catid,2/adid,6523/Itemid,197/

Only a very few 06 Strats had an issue with 3rd gear. Something like 1% to 3%.
If this one has it, it'll be real obvious, it either won't go into 3rd or it will kick out of 3rd under power.

This fits in here, right? I mean, I can make this fit in here ... right?

I have also heard about transmission issues with the 2006, and that Yamaha wasn't very forthright is addressing the issue. Can't recall if it applied to the 2007's. Something to consider. The one in the RSC classifieds sounds like the best deal all around.

If I decide to spend the cash it will need true duals and an E.D. seat.

Shores, I wouldn't go so far as to say it had no soul, but I would say... as I did, that it wasn't my style, and the reason was much closer to what you stated... it doesn't have the soul of a Road star, and by that, I mean, as MUCH soul as a Road Star.

I suppose if I was interested in touring, Id have loved it... but, I don't; not at all!

The Road Star is dead... Love live the Road Star!

Will be interesting to see if they de-content the new tourer, and make a cruiser of it... but, at $27k for the tourer, how much would the new cruiser be? $20k+???
