So, I went and had a dyno run on "The Beast". The highpoint is that with just the fuel path mods, I'm pulling 78 and change HP. Given that the stock roadie only pulls 64, I'm feeling pretty good about that. The lowpoint is that I'm running very rich. That would explain my low 30s gas mileage.

I've ordered the innovative digital AFR gauge and it should be here mid week. I figure at $40 a pull on the dyno, the gauge will pay for itself. Now I'll have to figure a way to mount it, but that shouldn't be too difficult!!

What's your jetting setup on that HSR?

Is what's on your profile accurate right now?

I think you should be lean with that jetting

I have a 170 main, 37.5 pilot & clip on the 3rd. I think I'm running just a smidge rich but not much.

Ya, I kinda figured you'd be a touch lean on a 1700 with that setup. I would get the AFR gauge all hooked up before you make any changes. I've heard so many differing stories about dyno runs that I don't trust any of the info that comes from them.

Also, I wonder why a 25 pilot is good with the HSR carb but it's better to run a 35, 37.5, or even a 40 pilot on the stock. Does the pilot jet meter air or fuel on the HSR?

That's my plan. No sense in making blind changes and it'll give me some comparison against the dyno run.

The pilot jet meters fuel and the pilot screw adjust the air added.
