Handlebar wire cover question 3 Years, 11 Months ago
I have severely sunburned electrical cable covers (GREY) and want to cover/replace/color or something to fix the problem. I was looking at the black split covers from Painless Performance parts. They are black and split and seem to look pretty good. Thought about a vinyl paint over but way more involved in covering the bike to paint without removing. Anyone have any ideas you have tried or seen?

try just about any auto parts store, they usually carry some type of cable covers in different diameter sizes.

There is also the 4 beer guide to running the wires internally in the tech articles. I'm halfway done with mine, got too cold in the garage to keep going. Will finish mine Friday as its supposed to be above 40 again.

internally wiring i give a +1, i done mine and while doing so i went ahead and extended them for future 14 inch apes. yes it's work, but its EASY! and Quickly done in a couple hours. It adds a good smooth look the the handle bar area. Look into it!?

I added 12 inches to my wiring in prep for apes in the future also. Best tips I can give, center punch the holes before trying to drill, drill in 3 steps starting at 1/8th and ending at 1/2, do in-line splices with soldier and shrink wrap. Ill post pics once I get my bike all back together. Only takes a couple hours and looks SOOOO much cleaner.

Stagger the splices, makes for less bulk in any one particular spot.

Lol, and always a good idea to keep a lighter in your tool box. Trying to heat shrink wrap with a propane torch isnt as fun as you would think.
