I can still adjust my spokes as I put HVAC tape over the holes before spreading the sealer on the rim.

It sounds like this mod. will save a lot of money but before I try it does anyone know how much the speed-o-meter is affected?
If this tire is taller than the original won't the speedometer give a slower reading? I'd hate to be out riding and think I'm going 70 only to find out (by way of police radar) that I'm really going 82. Speeding tickets are such a waste of money. Thanks for the help.

I wondered about the speedo accuracy I am glad to here that. I will also verify it with my gps also. And I will report back on that too.

My speedo was off by 3-5 miles an hour with the MT I was running (Metzler 880). I am now dead on with the Austone when checked by two different GPS units that I have. This is the stock tire size that the Road Star should have come with from the factory. I have not noticed any low end loss but do see a lower rpm at 75 mph of about 250 rpms. Over all it is a great tire and I have yet to find any issues with my current setup and would, and will do it again.

I have never been a real close tracker on my gas milage. But over several of the last fillups it is up maybe 2-4 mpg. I need to do a check and get some more accurate data but it all depends on what rides I have been on due to the significant altitude differences we have here in Colorado, a single moderate long ride (2-3 hours) can have altitude changes of 4500 to 5000 ft. I live at 5650 but some of the passes are close to 12,000, Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70 is 11,158 and Loveland is 11,990 with everything in between and then lower if you go just a few miles East. This proabably doesn't help at all and makes it hard to get accurate data but, it is what we get to ride in this great state .

I can say the one thing I have done is watch my milage according to my odometer and fillups I am getting 40 mpg. And depending on my driving it has varied from 38 to 42. Motor is all stock, it had after market pipes on it but I like to hear the wind and I have had enough loud in my younger years. I got the original never run pipes with the bike so I put them on. It runs great and I am pleased with it. actually I love it. Not sure of our altitude but here in Tn it does vary some but not alot.
