It's looking like I meet that requirement!

Pretty cool I had that bar with lights layin' around. I have NO idea where I ever got it, or when. I didn't even know the bar was originally an OEM factory piece that had been modified to wear those lights.

I love it when stuff just comes together that way!

I've got a bunch of stainless steel braid... now, to sheath the wiring, and properly reattach all connectors to reside under the tank.

DOT huh ? So it's required for all states? I had no idea. I was really thinking about changing the whole headlight turn signal setup. One of the first things would be to shorten the turn signals. All States ??

Gonna leave it alone for now... until next week.

Hoping adamp will get his handlebar off to me, so I can begin wrapping this project up.

Once the bar and wiring is complete... O, yea, still waiting on my brake/stop light setup... I can do a quick re-assemble just to check and see if all the electrics are working, and the engine will start and run.

Then it will be off with the tins to complete the finish on them. Toyota has a bright white with no metal-flake or pearl in it. I think I'll send 'em out and spend some money to do that... or, maybe I'll totally cheap out and try my hand at a rattle-can finish!

Since you were concerned about DOT on blinkers. Did you know they require reflectors?
2 amber front sides, 2 red rear sides and 1 red facing the back. They need to be a certain size, which I don't remember

Hmmmm, maybe I'm not quite as concerned as you thought.

yeah Rule#1 don't be overly concerned about DOT when building a custom bike. Never seen one that was compliant and kind of defeats the purpose imo. cops don't hassle. But doing it for safety reasons might be a reason.. then again how many times have you actually noticed a reflector on a passing bike? If I rode at night a lot I would plaster reflectors all over it. ONce i commuted on a night shift and I believe they saved my ass.

One of the first things I do when I get a different bike is get rid of the reflectors. But I'm edgy like that.

Well, this morning, I stainless steel sheathed my wires from the handlebar controls to under the tank, and re-attached the connectors. I test wired the headlight, dropped a battery in, and everything I've wired up is working as it's s'posed to.

Tomorrow, I want to test fit the tank over the re-routed wiring effort, to see that the wires and connectors don't interfere with mounting the tank. If there's plenty of room, as I've read here, then it shouldn't be a problem, and I can finish wrapping wire and attaching the looms to the backbone of the frame.

Still awaiting my tail/brake light and handlebar, so I can finish the mechanical work, and consider how I'll finish the tins.

Pics to follow soon.
