Riding here is indeed nice. In my back yard are miles of 75-90 mph perfectly paved sweepers through the pines that I can ride with my t-shirt on. However the trade off is really high everything including gas prices, and as stated, bizarre (horrible, can you say "Brown"?) politicians! Recently it has crossed my mind that moving to another state, even if it meant riding in the rain with a parka on, might be worth it. They just passed SB-1. The weather, scenery, make it a great place, but it has also over the years has made alot of people think they can charge what ever they like for just about everything you need to live. I figure by the time I retire, I will have to move out of state because I won't be able to afford the basics of living. Top that with all the crazy laws and taxes and I'm not sure it's worth it. I've traveled extensively around the country for work and I think every state has their beauty. I think I could put up with a little weather for a better quality of life. Glad to enjoyed it so much. I agree with those who live here and commented on the trade off's ..... Weather being the best and politicians being the worst. If any RSC member wants to come out here for a visit and needs a bike to ride mine is available. Consider this an open invitation. I used to live in the Bay Area but I now live in the Central Valley. In the Bay Area I could not stand the traffic and now living in the Central Valley I am able to ride over to the ocean or up into the Sierra's within a couple of hours and they are very nice rides! I only hate the government that is here. But I really enjoy riding around my local area and still finding great places to see. Like Roadierob said I will probably move out of this state as soon as I can retire.   Logged     20171228_185653 by Michael Score, on Flickr   The administrator has disabled public write access. #1019624 gennaro (User) Senior Boarder Posts: 217 Re:California Dreaming Redux 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago   the six or seven months riding season in Pa is great. i won't ride limited access roads because of being blown all over the place. i keep trying but i just can't get into it. i can ride all day on back country winding roads through woods and farm land and nice little towns. the really dumb thing is, is that i've been retired 12 + years and could have relocated but just started riding again this year so it wasn't a big issue. now i'm 63 and with friends dropping like flies, i'm not sure i want to spend what time i have left, solitary (divorced). my sons and grandchildren live close and i would miss them. i may compromise and start going south for a few winter months.   Logged     Last Edit: 2017/08/12 08:07 By gennaro.   The administrator has disabled public write access.
