Posted in About the Library, Academic Communities, Academic Disciplines, and General News

For a number of years, the American Library Association (ALA) has created READ @ Your Library posters featuring celebrities and their favorite books. Pollak Library proudly carries on this tradition by creating posters of CSUF faculty, staff and students and the books they love.

Dr. Gregory Chris Brown

Dr. Gregory Chris Brown is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and CFA President Fullerton Chapter. He teaches Gangs in the Criminal Justice System; Corrections; Minorities and the Criminal Justice System; the Criminal Justice internship class.

What are you passionate about?

I am involved with the Southern California Ceasefire Committee in LA. Ceasefire is trying to eliminate all gang violence and by extension gang-related deaths and conflicts in Los Angeles. I am passionate about ending gang violence.

What book did you choose to highlight?

The reason I chose the book Native son: the emergence of a new Black hero is because I can relate to the protagonist “Bigger Thomas”. He was really a nice guy. Though it is tragic that he panicked and wound up killing the woman accidentally, it was a powerful story!

The Pollak Library is here to help and serve you as readers and learners. Feel free to share why you choose to read and what book inspires you.
