Titans Read @ Pollak Library: Meet Taylor Dockins

Posted in About the Library, Academic Communities, Academic Disciplines, and General News

For a number of years, the American Library Association (ALA) has created READ @ Your Library posters featuring celebrities and their favorite books. Pollak Library proudly carries on this tradition by creating posters of CSUF faculty, staff and students and the books they love.

Taylor Dockins

Taylor Dockins is a second year at Cal State Fullerton majoring in Communications Journalism in hopes to be a sports broadcaster for a major league baseball team. She is on the Softball team at CSUF as a right-handed pitcher.

When did you start playing softball and who inspired you?

I started playing softball when I was 6 years old. I wanted to become a pitcher after watching the Women’s College World Series on TV, right away I knew I wanted to play college softball and told my mom that I wanted to become a pitcher. My most favorite athlete and the person that I look up to is Danielle Lawrie, she played softball for the University of Washington. Just her demeanor on the field and the person that she is makes me look up to her a lot.

What was the best game you pitched?

During my freshman year of college, I did pitch a no-hitter against the University of San Diego. Which was the 57th no-hitter in program history since 2013. But I think the best game that I pitched throughout my career was against a top-ranked team, Mississippi State University. The Bulldogs only got 1 run and just 3 hits. I had a career-high of 8 strikeouts during that game.

What book did you choose to highlight?

I chose the, Nothing to Prove by Jennie Allen for the READ Poster because I’m really dedicated to my faith with Jesus Christ and Jennie talks about her walk-in her faith and how she became a stronger person by it. Whether you’re a believer or not, this book will teach you the true meaning of what living life is. It will make you become a better person and will uplift your spirits no matter where you are in life.

The Pollak Library is here to help and serve you as readers and learners. Feel free to share why you choose to read and what book inspires you.
