DC Court Ruling Risks Alaska Jobs and Industry
(June 16, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska) Recently, a DC federal appeals court air-dropped a ruling on Alaska that effectively swept away our nation’s current five-year offshore energy program, a full two years into its implementation. The court’s decision threw into question at least 487 leases in Alaska’s Chukchi Sea and 1,854 leases already issued in the Gulf of Mexico. This ruling jeopardizes thousands of Alaska jobs and billions in potential state and federal revenue. Details >

Alaska Police Memorial Ceremony Speech
(May 8, 2009) We gratefully join in honoring the service and sacrifice of Alaska’s law enforcement community, especially those who have given all for us…for a cause greater than themselves. Details >

AK requests stimulus funds that truly stoke fire
(March 23, 2009, Juneau, Alaska) Governor Palin’s request for federal stimulus money made a strong statement about Alaska’s values. The fundamental question was: who will decide Alaska’s future—Washington, D.C. or Alaska? By not requesting all available federal funds, we protect our independence and bring more accountability for government spending. The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act mandates the governor’s certification that federal funds will create jobs and promote economic stimulus. Unfortunately, the federal stimulus package was only partly about creating jobs. Details >

Economic Stimulus or More Government Spending
President Obama and the Democratic-led Congress have offered up what they call the American Reinvestment and Recovery Plan. Essentially, the President and Congress plan a massive spending effort to “…invest in clean energy, healthcare, education and infrastructure.” Details >

Abused Women's Aid in Crisis (AWAIC) Speech
(November 21, 2008, Anchorage, Alaska) Together—as Alaskans—we must set the example--a new standard for our towns and villages, a standard promoting respect and love, self-control and patience (beginning in our own homes and relationships). We must hold accountable those who express anger and control in unhealthy and dangerous ways. Legislation and law enforcement alone cannot ensure healthy and safe homes. Each of us must take a stand as parents, spouses, neighbors, and friends who will not allow the poison of domestic violence to spread throughout our communities any longer. This really requires individual effort that cumulatively will result in fear transformed to hope. Details >

D.A.R.E. Speech: Youth with Dignity and Purpose
Many young people have a small vision for their lives and what they can accomplish. They have not been taught to dream, and they are expected by much of society to fail. Many of our teens struggle with despair and believe the lie that they and their actions don’t matter. Details >

Excerpt: Kenai Chamber of Commerce
Many of us shake our heads at the crime and criminals in our state while entertaining the naïve belief that, somehow, we will never be touched by it. That comfortable presumption is no longer available. Governor Palin asked me to review the criminal justice system and make recommendations for positive change and, so far, I've learned that every part of the criminal justice system needs attention, from law enforcement through corrections. C-17 Arrival Ceremony Speech
The C-17 is an exceptional aircraft—and what a smooth ride! In receiving this and future C-17’s, Elmendorf Air Force Base and Alaskan Command will exponentially increase their ability to protect and defend Americans and to respond quickly to contingencies all over the world. Details >

Dimond High School Baccalaureate Speech
(Anchorage) - Congratulations! I know it must have seemed like a long four years—for parents and students alike—but you have run the race and you have finished it. I am here to celebrate you, your achievements, and your future. Details >

ANDVSA Conference Speech
No one EVER deserves to be abused. Nothing can justify it; it is never situation or person-specific. But if we, as a community, only react to the abuse, rather than try to prevent it by proactively addressing the heart of our culture—then we are ALL alone in the dark. Details >
