Educational Events

NFAIS offers a myriad of opportunities for professional development: webinars, seminars, workshops, roundtables and our annual conference. Our educational events provide professionals with a targeted and flexible means to advance, change or refocus careers and position organizations for future growth.

NFAIS Webinars are usually 90 minutes in length and provide the listener with examples, facts, and discussion on a particular aspect of information accessibility.

NFAIS Seminars, Workshops and Roundtables are sources of information that can be attended both on-site or virtually, providing a wider accessibility to the information being disseminated. NFAIS webinars and virtual seminars are recorded and archived so that individuals with a time or date conflict can take advantage of these programs at a later date. Lunch & Learn with NFAIS are 30- to 45-minute virtual educational events that allow members and the information community to share insights, industry trends, new technologies, and challenge current thinking through a formal Call for Presentation process.  Lunch & Learns are free for NFAIS members and available to non-members for a nominal fee. The NFAIS Annual Conference is a 3-day meeting offering attendees the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions and special topic discussions about key industry issues and hear from top professionals in a variety of related fields. Mark your calendar...

for a thought-provoking conference, “Movements and Models Supporting Open Access,” on October 1-2, 2018 in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

Open Access continues to gain momentum as open science and open peer review become more prevalent. And, despite OA’s alignment with a more socially engaged information community, it continues to disrupt and change the direction of how scholarly communications are evolving.

Explore this multidimensional disruption with NFAIS members and colleagues in discussions on provocative topics such as open publishing and open peer reviews; policy, best practices and compliance; alternative models; and the role of the researcher in open access.

The program will consist of keynote speakers, plenary and panel sessions. Become a speaker and share your insights and expertise with others in the information services community: introduce current thinking, industry trends, new technologies and application to others in the industry. We are looking for visionary, inspiring and future-focused individuals who can elevate discussions, debate and even provide practical ideas and solutions that will benefit our attendees.

Interested in presenting at this event?  Our call for presentations is open until July 31, 2018.
