Doors Open Alberta Edukit

The Doors Open Alberta Edukit introduces young people to the Doors Open concept and offers the opportunity for young people to develop an understanding and enthusiasm for their local built environment. By educating the young we are ensuring that future generations will be able to appreciate landmark buildings and the significant role buildings play in a community's identity. We aim to inspire a new generation of citizens to be involved and to play an active role in promoting, preserving and celebrating their community's environment.

This fun and interactive Edukit allows children to discover their heritage by realizing that Alberta looks much different than it did 100 years ago! A multi-media resource, this Edukit is designed to inspire teachers to use the built environment across the curriculum, inside and outside the classroom. The Doors Open Alberta Edukit also assists teachers, students and home learners in learning more about Alberta's rich architectural resources. It also offers information on the form and function of buildings both old and new. The site supports student learning as it relates to the homes of Alberta's First Nations, early settlers, and different types of buildings in Alberta's major cities.

Have fun!
