RED DEER – Another piece of Alberta history is now available at the touch of a few keystrokes.

The Methodist Missionaries in Alberta Web site is to be unveiled today at the Red Deer Public Library at 1:30pm.

Early Methodist missionaries, such as Robert Rundle, Henry Steinhauer and George and John McDougall, were part of the process in the evolving society.

Pictures, original text, historical context, maps and biographies combine to create a portrait of the province and the contributions of the Methodist missionaries. The site is described as comprehensive resource for students and teachers.

It takes its place alongside a Web site about Alberta’s Italian community. That site, like the Methodist missionaries one, involved the Heritage Community Foundation.

In each case, the foundation worked with groups representing the subject. For the latest site, that was the United Church Historical Foundation and the Eleanor Luxton Historical Foundation.

The new site can be found at www.albertasource.ca/methodist/ and the site about Alberta’s Italian community is at www.albertasource.ca/abitalian/.
