Senior Student Zone

Thanks for coming to the Secondary Student section of the Aboriginal Youth Identity Edukit on Health and Wellness. Here is information and visual material to help you develop a more complete understanding of two aspects of social and emotional wellness of native Canadian groups. First, the residential school process was a harsh influence on First Nations culture and family life. This part of Canadian history is particularly important to understand and to try to heal the pervasive effects of this episode.. The second focus for this collection of resources is to clarify the traditional ability of First Nations groups to cooperate, communicate, and meet their needs at a very high level of success.

Look in Infomatics for the facts and the notes about residential schools and the cultures of cooperation seen in First Nations and Métis groups, then look over the images and photographs in the MultiMedia. Finally, check your understanding with some quiz questions and word games in Activities.
