In communities across Canada, festivals are a popular way for all people to gather, and Franco-Albertans are no exception.

The wave of immigrants at the turn of the 20th century, specifically the French-speakers from Eastern Canada and New England, brought their customs to Alberta, customs which immigrants from France, Belgium or Switzerland could also identify with. Local plays, choir competitions, concerts, maple sugar festivals and the Saint-Jean Baptiste day celebrations were activities in which all could participate.
